This is entirely our choice of toys. We’re not sponsored by anything of this, just Mille who loves to play with this stuff at the age between 4 and 6 months old. The pictures in this blog post with Mille in it, are family pictures and not taking especially for this blog.
Let me situate his skills at the time between 4 and six months. Mille can not sit up right yet. He can only sit upright with help of cushions or on our lab. He loves to sit in his Bumbo and Babybjörn sitter. Mille has the mesh fabric one, because he’s alway hot.
In our blog post ‘What’s in our flying diaper bag’, you can see many of his favorite toys of the period between 4 & 6 months.
Let me start by saying, we have a very picky taste when it comes to our home. We would like more monochrome toys, but we’ve noticed that some of the colorful things with sounds and light do not come in a monochrome version. Too bad!
His favorite toy got to be an activity book from Vtech
We have it in French, because Mille is partly raised in French. (Mum speaks French to him, and dad talks in Dutch). You can find these light and sound books in different brands and in any kind of language. We do like Vtech because it’s made of sturdy material and it has really nice songs in it. You can also adjust the volume of the sound from small speaker to large.
Rattles are hot too, especially the one with sparkles in it. This one is a vintage Fisher-price one that used to belong to my little brother aka Mille’s godfather. It is easy for Mille to take in his little hands and he is fascinated by the sparkles and red water in it.
Woody the worm is a good wooden toy for this age. It is easy to grab and Mille loves to put it in his mouth. He can bent to worm in all sort of shapes. Thanks Auntie Hilde for this great gift! 🙂
Household gear like a wooden spoon, wooden bottle opener or especially a whisk. His tiny little fingers like to grab the wired end of the whisk and he loves to bang on things with it. Or even a dish brush. Little containers or small bottles with pasta or rice in it. He loves to shake them and throw them on the ground.
Soft fluffy blocks or balls wake his interest and he starts to like cardboard books.
We love the brand Done by Deer, for us it’s a design baby brand. He still plays on mats lying down, so a good toy is a activity Gym by Done by deer and is the prettiest one on the market.
Also the Mobile is pretty and fun for Mille to watch.
When traveling we use the Zoopreme Pram toy to clip on his maxi-cosi or buggy.
And also the Tiny Love travel mobile is a must have for Mille. This last one is not the prettiest one but works like a charm.
Also in the ‘not so pretty category, but works perfectly’ is the Tiny Love take-along arch. You can screw it on by hand anywhere you like. Thanks to our Osteopath for the tip! (wouldn’t buy on my own 😉
– leave the tags on the toys, babies love to grab them (only the baby save tags of course!)
– don’t buy too much toys, you’ll receive a lot from family and friends.
Happy play time with your little one!
